You are a tremendously successful Commercial Officer, currently managing a large organisation and leading a winning Sales / Commercial team in a high pressure environment; and you are looking for challenge and growth in your next key “C Suite” Commercial role. Matrix Australia ( matrixfitness.com.au ) is the leader in the fast paced fitness and leisure industry, and we are now recruiting for a  successful and self-motivated Chief Commercial Officer ( CCO )based in Melbourne. Matrix Australia is part of the broader Johnson Health Tech  ( JHTA ) family, which spans the world with offices in over 40 countries and distributors in another 80. Customers consist of some of the most notable health clubs and sports and fitness equipment retailers, including Goodlife Health Clubs, Fitness First, Snap Fitness, Planet Fitness, Jetts, Fernwood and World Gym to name just a few.

You will be responsible for the overall management and control of total commercial sales in Australia. The CCO has the responsibility to review, develop and implement procedures and controls, consistent with established company policies and procedures. They will work very closely with the Managing Director & the Head of Marketing to develop and grow national sales, implement marketing campaigns, analyse and act on sound business information and competitor markets.

This CCO role is part of the Executive team and leads national sales – you will be a leader in the business. Your broader responsibilities will also include the following:

  • To drive national sales, grow new business and motivate and lead your team to achieve their sales budgets
  • To work cross functionally with the MD, Finance, Marketing, HR and Customer Service.
  • Ensure all commercial staff are aware of sales and productivity targets and have strategies in place and skill levels to meet those targets
  • Ensure all business focus is on the development and retention of business through sales excellence in customer service, integrity and clear competitive advantage.
  • Develop and document new sales procedures and review current sales procedures as required
  • Assist with implementation of sales KPI’s, performance reviews and make recommendations to the Managing Director on staffing issues
  • Assist in setting and implementing sales budgets and forecasts in consultation with the MD and Finance manager
  • Timely delivery to the Managing Director of accurate sales forecast and results, and financial and budget results.
  • Assist the Managing Director in setting pricing considering market competition , profit margin expectations and turnover targets.

To be successful here you should present with a tertiary or business related degree, have over ten years of sales success in managing a winning sales team. Ideally within the fitness industry, sport, leisure, motor vehicle or recreation industries. A product background, working across procurement and working with supply chain; and reporting to regional offices or international head office would be favourably looked upon.
